(More customer reviews)I bought this because the item description specifically stated that it would work with the iPhone 3G. The charger is reasonably priced and it shipped quickly - but it doesn't work with the iPhone 3Gs. When connected I get an error message and neither the wall unit or car adapter will charge the iPhone. From doing some further searching on the internet, I found that Apple has apparently changed the method of charging from the firewire (12V) pins on the docking connector to the USB power (5V) pins and also requires that the USB data sense pins have the correct voltage as well. The bottom line is that most of the adapters originally made for the iPod or earlier versions of the iPhone are not compatible with the iPhone 3Gs.
